I should have known that making money with lead generation was my calling.  But for the next few years I dabbled in building web portals, writing ezines, selling ezine ad space, selling banner ads, writing ebooks, selling resell rights packages and everything else under the sun.

Don't get me wrong.  I did quite well in these businesses, but nothing prepared me for the profit potential of the cost per action (CPA) industry.

A few years ago I had set up a web site promoting a certain niche that had a lot of demand.  All the offers I had set up on this web site were cost per sale (CPS) offers except one cost per action (CPA) offer that was buried at the bottom of the web page.

I started driving traffic from Google Adwords to this web page and had a heck of a time converting any of the cost-per-sale offers.  But this one little CPA lead offer at the bottom of the web page that paid out $4 was bringing in 3-4 leads a day.

I thought to myself, what if I just drive all the traffic directly to this one CPA offer?

It was worth a shot.

I switched all the traffic from Google Adwords directly to this one $4 CPA offer and the rest was almost surreal.  The first day of this linking strategy, I generated around $80 in affiliate commissions and paid only $20 in click costs.  I decided to ramp this ad campaign up and get more traffic.  I set up more ad groups on Google Adwords and started bidding on more keywords.

Within a week, I was making an average of $800 a day paying only about $250 in pay per click costs for various CPA ad campaigns.

I was so excited and I remember waking up my wife one morning at about 6 AM to tell her that $200 came into my Primary Ads affiliate account while we were sleeping!  Then my wife (being the cautious one) said to me “What if the CPA network doesn't pay you or they go bankrupt?  How will you pay off the credit card?” 

What a party-pooper. 

My heart sank. 

What if they didn't pay me? 

I was on target to rack up close to $10,000 in click costs for the month.  Google Adwords doesn't care if the CPA network doesn't pay me.  They had already billed my credit card.

I called up my CPA affiliate manager and kept asking him if my leads were legitimate and if the numbers in my account reports were real.  I must of harassed the poor guy for 3-4 straight days and he kept saying that everything was fine.

And it was.

I received my first five-figure CPA commission check from the CPA network "Primary Ads" a few weeks later and realized that not only was this way of making money online very lucrative, it was extremely fun!  I have never missed a payment from a CPA network since.

I pretty much gave up my other online ventures and have been simply brokering traffic from pay per click search engines directly to various CPA lead offers for the last three years. 

That is why I like to call this model of making money, the "Traffic Brokering" business.

And it could have been much higher if MSN Adcenter didn't have billing problems, which cost me six full days of no traffic from MSN while my campaigns were on hold.  I also lost out on additional affiliate commissions because one CPA offer I was promoting had ended that had been averaging close to $1,000 a day in gross affiliate commissions.

My net take home profit after paying my click costs were approximately 50% and have been for the last few years.  (Don't you just hate when some Internet marketers only tell you their gross sales or commissions and never their net)?

I credit these incredible commission numbers directly to my strategies and techniques.  These strategies and techniques have allowed me to create incredible surges of traffic to various CPA offers. 

These strategies and techniques are a result of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on pay per click traffic over the last three years.

I have rigorously tested different methods of generating pay per click traffic to CPA lead offers and have now mastered all the major pay per click search engines.

I have my traffic techniques so well refined that I have had Affiliate Managers call me and tell me on more than one occasion to stop sending traffic because I had blown through the advertiser's budget for the month.

My traffic techniques are so powerful that a CPA affiliate network that provides real-time statistics could not even keep up with the reporting of leads even after I had stopped sending traffic for a particular offer.  I literally sat there clicking the refresh button watching my leads increase every few seconds in my affiliate account.

On a side note, my affiliate manager called me and told me to slow down the traffic because the volume of leads were freaking out the CPA advertiser.  I eventually had to stop because the traffic and leads became unmanageable for this particular CPA advertiser.

I made thousands of dollars on other CPA networks during this same time period for a total of $159,191 in CPA affiliate commissions for January 2008, but I think you get the point by now.

I have achieved great success in this business and I always wondered whether it was possible to teach other people to do exactly what I do so that they could also make money sending pay per click traffic to CPA lead offers.  I needed a subject to test a few of my strategies and techniques with, so last summer I called up my brother-in-law, who was a cash-starved college student at the time.
